Hello friends and happy (as it can be) 2024! The first newsletter of the year comes as a bumper-pack special restaurant roundup. My penchant for eating, drinking, being out has hit an all-time high in the year 2023 (possibly the same other years but this was the year that I kept count). The total of the year hit a cringing 484 establishments across four countries, twenty kebabs, one first date, two funerals, one wedding, two new jobs, countless afterwork beers and many other life occasions.
Thinking about my next meal is my Roman Empire, testing new restaurants and revisiting old favourites brings me so much joy. The list may be embarrassing, but the pleasure that is has brought me, despite the dent in my wallet (read: chef’s salary), is immeasurable. I have therefore constructed a spreadsheet, a condensed version of my year of magical eating.
This list is Paris exclusive, with the exception of two addresses which are in Paris’ suburbs. I hope this list gives a fun insight into how I spend my time and cash, and as well, an insight into eating and drinking in Paris. I am always answering questions of where to eat, where to drink. A group of five friends wanting Korean in the 5e arrondissement? Well, look no further.
To fund my next year’s monstrous habits, I am now adding an option to become a paid subscriber to Alphabet Soup. The paid option will receive monthly reviews of restaurants and worldwide recommendations, as well as recipes thrown in for good measure. I hope this idea appeals to a wider audience and if ever you feel inclined, feel free to share with greedy friends and foe alike.
So here goes nothing, the full list below of 230 Paris diners, dive-ins, and delis is available to paid subscribers, but the first 100 are free to all. Tis the year of generosity!
Merci friends and eat, drink, and be merry this year!
